People tell me that it was another great conference. I thank those who have been so generous with their praise. We had 133 register for the conference. The weather cooperated this year and with some free time I know many enjoyed the opportunity to walk about the center. My colleagues at Richland came back with some great ideas. Several of the Richland faculty commented on the excellent collegial conversation they had with other community college mathematics faculty. I look forward to next year and the opportunity to serve IMACC as one of the co-chairs.
I want to thank all the people who helped make the conference a success especially the staff of
the Allerton Conference Center for the excellent support and friendly assistance at all times.
Beverly your team did a great job as they have for many years.
Remember next year the conference is April 15, 16, 17, 1999.
I have been in conversation with the new Best Western Gateway Inn just east of Monticello. For
those who prefer a more traditional sleeping provisions for the conference, we may be able to get
a block arrangement with the Inn. One note of concern, our conference is the same week-end as
Mother's weekend at University of Illinois. The Inn already has a 40% occupancy for the
Saturday of the our week-end at Allerton. For those who plan to stay in any hotel with in 50
miles of the University, it will be difficult to get a reservation unless you plan ahead.
The scholarship committee wants to remind all members that they should begin the process of considering worthy applicants for an IMACC scholarship now. Forms will be available in the Fall issue of the ConneXion.
